Finlandia
From the catalog text of the final exhibition in spring 2006
The piece I have on display for the spring exhibition show is called Finlandia. That is an interactive design installation. Here I am trying to share my own experiences, ideas, images and sounds, with focus on the last five years of which I have spent most of the time in Helsinki Finland. That together with the existing architecture of Taidehalli and the character which the given site offers, will form the Finlandia piece.
For the future I will continue my investigation on solar energy. My interest and mission in this is to try to bring solar energy closer to people. Try to get the solar and renewable energy to the places where the human is active. Let her be surrounded by energy that she knows come from a safe, renewable and clean source.
Art, to me is a left over, a side effect of an ongoing activity. It can be seen in the same way as sweat being a side effect of a physical activity. I like to see art as a witness of a mental process activity.
Reflection.
This was the second part of my exam work. I remember it as a good success in that way that I could use the architecture to incorporate the needed solar energy to my work. The electricity produced by the panel was used to run a small music device which was playing a recorded soundtrack with my band ikihevonen.
